Picture this – my future life in Paris

I’m laying in my bathtub in my small chic apartment in the centre of Paris. I submerge my head under the water causing the music playing from my phone which is balancing on the side of my sink to drop to just the audible bass. I centre myself and take steady breaths alongside the 4:4 count, watching the bubbles flow from my nose to the surface of the water. I get distracted momentarily by a single strand of my golden hair dancing in front of my eye and admire its beauty when underwater. Absentmindedly, I have quickly forgotten about the steady breathing and stream of bubbles rising above me. With my hands on either side of the bathtub frame, I lift my head back out of the water and gasp for breath. I chuckle lightly once I’ve recovered from the initial shock.
A few minutes later, I unplug the drain, step out of the bath, and wrap a white towel around myself. I open the bathroom door, allowing a thick trail of hot steam to escape around me. I tread over to the balcony on the other side of my apartment, dripping water behind me with every step.
The people on the streets below are bustling in one direction and another in their formal, dainty outfits. I spot one woman, likely in her mid 20s, wearing a beret, crossing paths with a man cycling on his light blue bicycle with a long baguette poking out of his backpack, and can’t help but smile to myself.
The cold autumn breeze whistles past me leaving quivering goosebumps on my legs. I take one last look at the young woman as she pulls her long red coat closer to her for warmth, and step back inside, closing the glass screen behind me.
I get changed into something comfortable, light up the fireplace, and sit down with my laptop to get started on my next novel, as the heat of the flames warm my face and my cat curls up on my lap to rest.
